Peter Gager, PhD

Neuropsychologist located in Lexington, KY

Meet Dr. Gager

As a clinical neuropsychologist, Dr. Peter Gager has evaluated individuals with cognitive and emotional difficulties in order to help them better understand the underlying causes and to ensure they get the most appropriate and effective treatments. Dr. Gager's more recent involvement in TMS therapy has allowed him to be more directly involved in treatment. The experience of seeing first-hand the positive effects that TMS has had on individuals who had come to believe they were out of options has been extremely gratifying.

In his free time, Dr. Gager spends time with family and tries to exercise regularly. As a former competitive cyclist, he follows research developments in the application of TMS to athletic performance enhancement. Another topic of interest for Dr. Gager is the use of TMS for treatment of dementia, age-related cognitive decline, and cognitive enhancement in non-clinical populations.

Dr. Gager is a board-certified neuropsychologist who was an assistant Professor in Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky until 2019. Prior to UK, he specialized in the assessment and treatment of special operators with PTSD and brain injury at the National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s National Center of Excellence.

Dr. Gager's training in psychology and neuropsychology began at Rutgers University for my Ph.D., where he was awarded a Fulbright research scholarship. His postdoctoral training included an internship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine Psychiatry in New York and a two-year residency at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor Psychiatry. Dr Gager began his studies as a religion major at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
